At midnight I will rise to give thanks to You, because of Your righteous judgments.
I am a companion (united) of all who fear you, and of those who keep Your precepts.
The earth, O LORD, is full of Your mercy; teach me Your statutes.

Whom are we amongst? The majority (the world) or the minority (those who fear God)

When I was a kid growing up, it seemed to me that everyone believed in God; it was the norm.
But, when I became a practicing Christian, I see it isn't the norm anymore! Christianity has become the minority.
As I read the Psalmist claim to stand with those who fear God, I began to ponder that we are the minority who fear Him.
So I raise the question? Whom do I belong to, the majority (world) or the minority) those who fear God, and not just during my daily
reading, or Sunday mornings, or Church functions, but in times of trouble, affliction, adversity?
The Psalmist loved what God stood for and what God wanted for him. He delighted in obeying God's commands.
He recognized in this passage how corrupt the earth is that he saw the need for and the fulfillment of God's mercy throughout
the earth. Psalm 33:5. This caused great gratitude that the Psalmist would be up at midnight to thank the Lord as Paul and Silas did in Acts 16:25
when they were imprisoned. Midnight is a good time to pray...minimal distractions if any and kids in bed, everyone is sleeping...How many of us our up
at that time anyway. Most of us women are either pre menopausal or menopausal, so our biological clocks are definitely ticking and tocking to a different
clock time! Soooooo why not pray at midnight? Just saying!

Lord let me be so full of gratitude that I would either wake up or be awake and just pour out praise and thanks to You for all You do and for all Your mercy that You give. Help me always to be willing to stand with the minority no matter how enticing the majority seems. Let me be willing to stand with the mocked, the afflicted, to stand alone if need be that I may be united with those who fear You and keep Your precepts. Lord be glorified in me! Amen!
