I know, O LORD, that Your judgments are right, and that
in faithfulness You have afflicted me, Let I pray Your
merciful kindness be for my comfort, according to Your word to Your servant.
Let Your tender mercies come to me, that I may live; for Your law is my
delight. Let the proud be ashamed, for they treated me wrongfully with falsehood;
But I will meditate on Your precepts.

God's judgments are always right...for my good...to teach me, to purify me
God allows affliction to keep me humble; He saves shame for the proud
When I meditate on God's word during affliction, He comforts me, pours out His mercy, validates me
When I am in God's will during affliction, He exalts me, I shine, others are drawn to Him through me

There are two types of affliction...God's and man's. God's is for my good, man's is to destroy me and usually for their own agendas.
The Lord allows me to be afflicted so as to keep me humble. God's afflictions teach me (if I am teachable), cleanse me
if I am willing to recognize my sin and confess my need to change. If I allow affliction to grow me there is no shame.
Shame is not for the humble but for the proud! When I am afflicted by man, I must seek God and hide myself in His word
so that I may shine through the affliction so as to glorify God. It is not what happens to me that matters, but instead what
I do with what happens to me that will vindicate me. God's laws and His judgments are right. When God allows me to be afflicted,
He pours out His mercy and comforts me; when I allow the affliction to do it's perfect work in my life, He exalts me, I shine, then others
are drawn to me...not away from me. My Pastor's wife gave us an illustration once about a woman in marriage but can be used in
any relationship or trial. When we duck (humble ourselves) God gets the shot. I need to duck (run to God's word, and let God deal with
the proud (humble them). I gotta get out of the way and let God do His perfect work in me while He deals with the proud. He will give
me all that I need to do that!
P-
Lord Jesus, help me to learn that when I am afflicted, that it is an opportunity for me to shine for You, rather than to put my defenses up.
It is an opportunity to draw others to You, through my appropriate actions. Help me to learn to allow myself to be humbled and not be afraid
of failure, so that You may exalt me in due time, rather than to exalt myself through my defenses. Help me not to see it as being weak, but as
being strong when I let go and let God! Amen!
"Soundness of heart signifies sincerity in dependence on God, and devotedness to Him." Matthew Henry
