Today's study was really good. I have read these verses so many times before, but today as I read, it really struck me that we have a choice in the way that our spiritual life goes. It is more a matter of the heart than it is anything else.
S: How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your Word. With my whole heart I have sought You; oh, let me not wander from Your commandments! Your Word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.
O: * We have a choice. Keeping our way pure requires action on our part. We have to read and obey God's Word
* We are prone to wander....
* When we know the Word and are purposeful to think on it and hide it in our heart, we are less likely to follow our flesh into sin
* being the pure and blameless person is not following a set of rules, but it is a change of heart...the heart choosing to follow after God
A: I can't be legalistic about rules and regulations, but I must be purposeful in having His Word in my heart and mind so a change of heart can take place. Following rules can only last so long, but true heart change can last for good.
P: God, Your ways are perfect. When I try to be a rule follower just for the sake of following rules, I fail every time. But when I have true understanding in my heart, I am able to maintain change. God, change me to be like You. to really hide Your Word in my heart and to depend on it every moment of every day.
